David Wise, the Reno, Nevada, native who scored gold in X Games superpipe for two consecutive years, was also the first daddy to win superpipe gold. You can often see his young family — wife Lexi and their daughter, Nayeli — cheering him on in the crowd at competitions. Skiing is in the Wise family’s blood: David’s dad raced in college, and David himself was a ski racer at Mount Rose in Tahoe before the parks and pipes lured him toward the freestyle team at age eleven. Once he combined his passion for skiing with his love of being airborne, there was no turning back. After a superpipe win at the 2009 World Skiing Invitational, David made skiing history by being the first person ever to perform a Double Cork 1260 in the halfpipe. Not surprisingly, David is an inaugural member of the U.S. Freeskiing Halfpipe Team.
Gear Inspired by David
David’s hat design is based on one he crocheted for his wife, Lexi. How cute is that? Come on, men, get crafty!
