When Shannon Bahrke was twelve, some saw her as an unruly young girl. The coach of the Squaw Valley Freestyle Team saw potential, and cultivated the talents that led Shannon to move to Salt Lake City after high school to pursue her dream of making the U.S. Ski Team. She went on to compete on six World Championship teams and three Olympic teams, earning two Olympic medals, seven World Cup wins, one overall World Cup title, and six national titles. Shannon’s younger brother, Scotty, followed in her tracks and is a world-class freestyle aerialist. In 2007 she and her husband, Matt, started the Silver Bean Coffee Co., creating blends that benefit the U.S. Ski Team and various charities. Shannon can also be found hiking, biking, golfing, riding motorcycles, practicing yoga, reading, or winding out a race car at the track.

Shannon treasures the blanket made for her by Grandma Bahrke, who taught her to be a strong, independent woman and to follow her dreams. “My grandma is no longer with us, and every time I snuggle up with it I think of her and what an amazing woman she was.”
