The Designer

Gwen Bortner

Gwen Bortner is a nationally recognized knitting instructor, teaching at venues throughout the country. She is the author of the popular book, Entrée to Entrelac. Her designs can be found in a variety of knitting magazines and through her business, Knitability, LLC. Education is probably the most important component of the Knitability business plan as all efforts focus on the company motto of "Taking Knitters to the Next Level". Whether teaching at a local yarn shop or at a national knitting convention, meeting new people and sharing the love of knitting is one of her greatest joys.

"The waves on the legs were designed to look like fresh tracks coming off the mountain. Made in a worsted weight wool, the socks knit up quickly and are prefect for padding around the lodge or putting your feet up by the fireplace after a long day of making your own first tracks!"

Elena Hight

“My grandma knitted me these socks a few years ago and now I take them everywhere with me. When I am on the road, bringing some of the comforts of home, and little reminders of my family is essential to keep me from getting home sick. These socks are so warm and cozy, they are the absolute best thing to put on once I have taken my boots off after a long day on the hill.”
